Travelling on from Phuket: common questions
How do I get from Phuket to Krabi, Khao Lak or Khao Sok without a bus?＋
Book a private car or van. One licensed local driver picks you up at your Phuket hotel, villa or the airport and drives you straight to your exact address — Krabi and Ao Nang in about 3 hours, Khao Lak in about 1 hour, Khao Sok in about 3 hours. Fixed price per vehicle, luggage and tolls included, and you pay the driver at the end.
Can you drive from Phuket to Koh Lanta?＋
Yes. Koh Lanta is reachable by road plus one short car ferry: down through Krabi to Ban Hua Hin pier, a 20-minute crossing to Koh Lanta Noi, then over the bridge to Koh Lanta Yai. Around 4.5–5 hours in total. We include the ferry in the fixed price and the driver takes you all the way to your resort, so your luggage never changes vehicles.
How long does it take to drive from Phuket to Ranong?＋
About 4–4.5 hours (roughly 300 km) north up the Andaman coast. We drop you at your Ranong hotel, at Ranong pier for the Koh Phayam and Koh Chang Ranong boats, or at the Ranong–Kawthaung border crossing for Myanmar.
What is the best way to get from Phuket to Koh Samui or Koh Phangan?＋
Overland, the usual route is a transfer to Don Sak pier (about 4.5–5 hours) and then the Raja, Seatran or Lomprayah ferry across. With a private transfer you choose the ferry departure and we time the pick-up around it, instead of the joint bus-and-boat ticket choosing your day for you. Surat Thani town, the railway station and the airport work the same way.
Is a private transfer cheaper than the bus or a shared minivan?＋
The price is per vehicle, not per person, so for two or more travellers it is often about the same as separate tickets once you add the transfers between terminals — and for a family with luggage it is usually cheaper as well as far more comfortable.
Can you pick us up straight from Phuket Airport?＋
Yes. Any intercity transfer can start at Phuket International Airport (HKT). We track your flight, so your driver is there even if you land late, and you go straight on to Krabi, Khao Lak, Koh Lanta or wherever you are heading without an overnight stop in Phuket.
Do you drive to places that are not on this list?＋
Yes — we drive anywhere in southern Thailand, including Trang, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Hat Yai and Satun for the Langkawi ferry. Message us with the destination and passenger count and we send a fixed price.
